Easier Access to EvaSys for Instructors

New LDAP plug-in synchronizes user accounts with the Active Directory data

In the digital era, people are forced to remember far too many passwords. This equally applies to the EvaSys administrators and instructors. In order to facilitate access to an EvaSys Active Account, we have now developed the LDAP plug-in, which is available free of charge in the EvaSys Extras.

What do I need the LDAP plug-in for?

Together with a pilot customer, we worked on a solution that facilitates access to an EvaSys system by instructors. LDAP is a key directory service used for user data exchange (name, form of address, e-mail address, etc.) via various systems. For example, it is possible to log into EvaSys using the same access data that is also used for Windows login. This means that additional and manual user administration via the EvaSys administrators who previously had to configure the settings individually for each instructor, is no longer necessary. By synchronizing the existing accounts, this tool is particularly helpful when it comes to multiple user access, for example when using the Bring Your Own Device plug-in.

How does the LDAP plug-in work?

The plug-in opens a menu in the EvaSys settings under ‚Tools‘ by triggering the EvaSys user data synchronization with the Active Directory data. This does, however, require that the LDAP connection be activated and configured in the ‚Settings / Interfaces & Plug-ins / LDAP Settings‘ menu. In addition, user accounts must have already been created in the system with defined e-mail addresses. Press the button to search for matches and replace the data in EvaSys. Press the Start Synchronization button to synchronize data manually or configure the plug-in settings to synchronize data at specific time intervals.

How can I use the plug-in?

The LDAP plug-in is available free of charge in the Plug-Ins menu in the EvaSys Extras. There, you can download the file and upload it to the system via the plug-in interface. For more information about installation, please see the Extras.
